Another one of my obsessions! Books! Yay…📕📗📘
So I thought I’d put down some of my very favorite YA series and other books!
First off, obviously HARRY POTTER. Like, WHO ELSE. That series was the best… I highly recommend it if you want to read a book written well and good for almost all ages. A fabulous modern classic. You can watch the movies too, but I’m a big believer in reading the books first.
Another series that is great for older elementary-middle school readers is the Percy Jackson series. Those books are awesome. Sadly, I was one of the few who found those books when they weren’t all realeased… And being the avid read that I am, had to wait an entire excruciating year for The Blood Of Olympus to come out. But enough with that. Let’s get on to some of my other faves.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak- AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING BOOK. SO GOOD. This is probably the best book I have ever read. For the more mature reader, there is some language… I’d gauge about middle school-high school to adult book. But it’s amazing. It may look intimidating and thick but read it, it’s awesome.
A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith- a classic. Just. A classic. If you want to read a classic, but not have to put up with the weird writing and the boring storylines… Then this is the book for you.
Here are some other good YA fiction:
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins
The Maze Runner series by James Dashner (but don’t read the Death Cure unless you want your life ruined)
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See (good historical fiction)
I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak (I actually haven’t finished this one yet… But it’s good so far!)
The Selection series by Kiera Cass
The Giver by Lois Lowry (I think there is a series that goes with this, but I haven’t read it and in my perpective, the book was just fine on its own!)

Please keep in mind that most of these YA books contain significant violence, language, and other content that may not be suitable for younger children. If you are a parent, I highly recommend reading these books prior to your children if they are 10 or younger. I have read all of these books and I can say that pretty much none of them are suitable for any age younger than 9. Some mature 9 and 10 year olds may be able to read this material, though that is all up to what their parents believe suitable reading material for them. If you feel your child needs longer books, or harder text but is not mature enough to read some of the YA books, then check out the list below I’ve created for younger readers:
Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan, which is followed by the Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan.
Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
The Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley
The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer
The Unwanteds series by Lisa McMann
Jake and Lily by Jerri Spinelli
pretty much any Judy Bloom book…
Fairy Wings by E.D. Baker
the Mysterious Benedict Society series by Trenton Lee Stewart
Pie by Sarah Weeks
The Tale of Despereaux by Kate Dicamillo (her other books are really good too, she’s a great author)
the Tomorrow Girls series by Eva Gray
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle (she is also a really great author, she has many other books as well but this is my personal favorite and probably the most famous)
So… That’s about it!!! I know I put a lot of books in this post, and I’m definitely not expecting you to read them all… But please do try one or two out, and comment if you do!! Tell me how you like them😊 I’d love to get responses from you guys.
Until next time!
